چکیده

Introduction. HIV-1 infection in cell culture is typically characterized by certain cytopathic effects such as vacuolization of cells and development syncytia, which further lead to death. In addition, the majority drugs during HIV treatment exhibit serious adverse patients, apart from their beneficial role. During screening cytoprotective agents protect HIV-1-associated death also drug-associated toxicity, antioxidants a natural source are assumed be choice. A well-known antioxidant, ethyl gallate (EG), was selected for cytoprotection studies have already been proven an anti-HIV agent. Objective. The main objective study explore potential EG against HIV-1-induced effect antiretroviral drug toxicity. Methods. DPPH free radical scavenging assay performed with find effective concentration antioxidant activity. HIV-1infection-associated rescue were studied MT-2 lymphocytes microscopic method XTT assays. cellular toxicity different lines consequent effectiveness investigated using MTT viability assay. Results. Like ascorbic acid, exhibited promising MT2 induces often referred effect. usage causes severe like cytotoxicity. this context, tested its properties drug-mediated reclaimed back Antiretroviral drugs, ritonavir, efavirinz, AZT, nevirapine, induced more at higher concentrations tissue models liver (THLE-3), lung (AEpiCM), colorectal (HT-29), brain (U87 MG). Pretreated rescued toxic doses ART. Conclusion. found not only HIV-1-linked but chemotoxicity drugs. Evidently, could supplement management AIDS along enormous benefits.

Cytoprotective Activity of Glycyrrhizae radix Extract Against Arsenite-induced Cytotoxicity

Licorice, Glycyrrhizae radix, is one of the herbal medicines in East Asia that has been commonly used for treating various diseases, including stomach disorders. This study investigated the effect of licorice on arsenite (As)-induced cytotoxicity in H4IIE cells, a rat hepatocyte-derived cell line. Cell viability was significantly diminished in As-treated H4IIE cells in a time and concentration-...

Mulberry Fruit Extract Affords Protection against Ethyl Carbamate-Induced Cytotoxicity and Oxidative Stress

Ethyl carbamate (EC) is a food and environmental toxicant and is a cause of concern for human exposure. Several studies indicated that EC-induced toxicity was associated with oxidative stress. Mulberry fruits are reported to have a wide range of bioactive compounds and pharmacological activities. The present study was therefore aimed to investigate the protective property of mulberry fruit extr...

The Cytoprotective Effect of Amifostine Against Radiation Induced Toxicity

Radiation treatment is an important therapeutic option for a number of malignancies (American Cancer Society), but its use is frequently limited by adverse effects on normal tissues (Stone et al., 2003). Thus, the goal of most oncology treatments is to maximize the antineoplastic effect while minimizing deleterious outcomes for the patient. WR-2721 was developed by the U.S. Army Anti-Radiation ...

Frederine, a new and promising protector against doxorubicin-induced cardiotoxicity.

The flavonoid 7-monohydroxyethylrutoside (monoHER) can protect against doxorubicin-induced cardiotoxicity. A drawback of monoHER therapy would be the relatively high dose needed to obtain complete protection (500 mg/kg in mice). Therefore, we synthesized a series of new compounds with improved antioxidant properties. After characterization of antioxidant activity, cardioprotection in vitro, and...
